I used to love milk. But milk didn’t love me back. I noticed three major things when I removed dairy from my diet:
1. I didn’t get sick as often.
2. 99% of my digestive issues disappeared.
3. I got a lot more creative in the kitchen.
I’ve been making nut milks at home for years now but recently started making more oat milk. It’s so damn easy and because I already eat a lot of nuts and seeds in my diet felt I may have been overdoing it a bit PLUS oats are way cheaper than nuts!!!
It’s not necessary to soak the oats BUT I feel that the milk comes out far creamier when you do. I typically strain this through a very fine mesh strainer 2-3 times as it can get pretty messy in a nut bag.
1/2 cup Oats
2 cups Water (plus 2 cups for soaking - soak for 2-8 hours)
1 Pitted Date
Pinch of Salt
Soak oats and rinse thoroughly. Pop everything into the blender, whiz until completely blended and pour through the strainer. Will keep in the fridge for 3-5 days. Shake well before pouring. Enjoy!
