I'm constantly asked about "food on the go" and how to avoid making bad choices when you find yourself starving and surrounded by fast food choices. Of course it would be great if we always remembered to pack cut veggies and hummus or better yet were never caught out starving but life happens and having a tin of healthy nuts in the car, your bag or your desk will almost always save you from buying chips, a sugar laden "energy" bar, soda or that cookie...
My go-to RAW nuts are Almonds (a complex carb that can lower cholesterol and reduce sugar spikes), Pumpkin Seeds (zinc & heart healthy niacin), Cashew Nuts (boost immune function and bone strength), Walnuts (good for the brain, your mood, sleep cycles, pms and more...) and Brazil lNuts (one nut can supply 100% of the rda of selenium - a nutrient that is believed to help prevent prostate and breast cancers BUT one to two a day only - more than that and the body will not tolerate!!)
Storage: Nuts can go rancid quicker than you think so store them in the fridge or freezer!!
My favorite tins are by EcoLunchBox - tin shown here is their Blue Water Bento - size medium - which holds 12oz / 1.5 cups.
